VBS Carnival Games

Makenzie helped each of the girls play tic-tac-toe and then they eat got a piece of candy.  Malcom taught Mena how to play pool and Gene assisted Maggie.  Mena, Holly, and Maggie all moved together from game to game.  I wanted to teach them to cheer for and watch each other rather than moving onto another game when their turn was over.  I want my girls to learn that they are a team and when the world throws crazy stuff at us that they have a team behind them supporting them.  This was a great environment to teach that in; plus I was able to get pictures of all the girls together.  Gene and Jess didn't understand what I was trying to do at first, but once they realized what I was doing then they started reminding the girls to not just walk away when their turn was done.  The first girl would watch and cheer for the others just like they watched and cheered for her.

VBS Carnival -- Face (or Leg) Paint

Mena chose an owl to be painted on her leg.  Abby was the other leader for Mena's group with me this week.  She was an awesome youth helper and she did a great job on Mena's owl!  Maggie chose pizza to be painted on her face.  MacKenna was a youth helper in the craft station.  She was a great helper and did a great job on Maggie's pizza.  My girls love the youth helpers they got to hang out with this week!

VBS Carnival -- Bounce Slide

Both of my girls got scared in the bounce slide, but the biggest issue was they needed to use a rope to climb a wall to get to the top of the slide.  Their dad was going to lift them out, but I climbed in instead to help them.  Normally Maggie is a little monkey but she hasn't mastered using a rope yet so I pushed up on her bottom to help her over.  Then I did the same for Mena.  Then I had to decide whether to go up the wall and down the slide or go back through the maze.  The slide was FUN!

VBS Program -- "Jesus Loves Me"

Both girls do a good job on this song.  It was the last one they sang.  The Bell's have been joining us for Parent Night.  MacKenna is in the pink shirt.  She's getting to be a good friend of the girls and it's cute how she yawns toward the end.  That same phrase is repeated over and over so many times that all of us were ready for it to finish a bit more quickly by the end of the week!

VBS Program -- "Give It Away"

Maggie is on the left in the front row and Mena is on the right in the second row.  Watch for Maggie pulling her shorts up!  Mena does a great job and is so cute with how focused she is!

VBS Program

Maggie knew all the actions and words, but when she saw her dad, Jessie, Holly, Grandma, and Grandpa all she could do was smile.  She'd look at me and then she'd look at her family.  She even pointed to them quite a few times to let me know they were there.  It was funny how she couldn't even sing because she was so excited to see her family.  The other leaders were laughing with me and we really got laughing when she started pulling her shorts up to her waist!  What a riot!

The two pictures of the large group was the best I could do to get all 70+ kids in a picture since I was so close.  Thanks to Jamie, we were able to show the dvd of the songs behind the kids so the parents could see what the kids had been singing and dancing to all week.

Mena gives more smiles than she used to when up on the stage.  She does all the actions and sings all the songs.  I was with her group this year and I praised her for singing loud each night and she was ready to do that at the program.  Maggie was with Crystal who led the 3 & 4 year olds.

First Night of VBS

The girls were very excited for VBS to start!  Mena won the "Musical Island" game when the 5 year olds had gym.  Maggie's favorite is music!!

Dresses from China

The girls wore the dresses I brought back from China for them.  They both fit wonderfully!

Afternoon with Briget and Sammi

After the fair we went to Burger King for lunch.  They played in that play area for a bit and then the girls changed into their swimsuits so we could go to the spray park.  There were just enough clouds for Briget and I to sit comfortably while the girls played in the water.  There was a lot of laughing going on.  The last picture Maggie told me to tickle her and I took a picture instead!
