Maggie's Preschool Celebration

Maggie's preschool does a celebration the last Friday of the month to show what they learned that month.  I went in September and Gene went in October.  He sent me this video.

Halloween

Mena wanted her picture in her Sofia the First costume in front of the new car.  I bought a 2003 Toyota Camry in October.

Mena's Girl Scout Troop was invited to a Halloween party so I dressed up in the costume I made before I had kids.  It still fit pretty well so all three of us were dressed up for the party.

Maggie had two costumes this year.  I planned to sew her a pink princess costume like Mena's purple one but that plan flew out the window when I had to deal with lice.  The day I had planned to sew was spent doing laundry.  Luckily I had this monkey costume from when Mena was 4 years old which worked great for our outdoor Halloween activities.  When we went to the Children's Museum Halloween party, Maggie wore some of her dress up clothes so she didn't get so hot inside.

Both of the girls enjoyed themselves at the Children's Museum Halloween party, but Mena was mad that I made her stop for a picture!

Grandma went with us to Boo at the Zoo.  Lots of candy, but I think the train ride at the end was the best part for the girls!

The girls' buckets were nearly filled to the top after trick or treating around the neighborhood behind our apartments.  Four Halloween events in October made for lots of celebrating and fun!

Maggie Cutting

Maggie's preschool class does one letter each week.  She had told me she wanted me to save each page and at the end of the year we'd make her a book to save.  This week she brought home the letter H and started cutting it out.  She was so proud when she showed me what she'd done.  I asked her how I was supposed to make the book she wanted me to make and she looked at me with the deer in the headlights look and said, "I don't know!"  I taped it all back together and saved it.  True preschool behavior like this should be documented for all eternity!

Carving Pumpkins

We used a book of patterns I picked up on clearance last year to create different pumpkin carvings.  Mena picked out a cat and Maggie picked out a ghost.  Maggie broke three knives in her attempts to "do it myself!"

Silly Maggie!

Maggie said, "Look, Mom!  I'm holding her hand."  It was a mannequin!

Family Pictures

I put the girls in the dresses I brought back from China and had our family pictures done at JCPenney.

Painting Pumpkins and Gourds

I gave the girls the choice of carving, coloring with markers, or paint and glitter for their pumpkins from Camp Fontanelle.  They chose paint and glitter.  I was thinking just pumpkins but they chose to decorate the gourds too.  They are beautifully painted and covered in glitter.  Maggie's are on the yellow tray and Mena's are on the green tray.

Camp Fontanelle

Maggie was inspecting the huge ear of corn.  She was fascinated with all the corn!  You can see Sammy through the cut out at the top.

The girls found gourds they wanted to keep, but we told them we didn't want to carry them around.  They found this spot to hide them.  They were still there when we came back!

The girls reading the sizes and prices of pumpkins.

Mena and Maggie entering the corn maze.

Maggie stopped every couple of feet to touch an ear while she said, "corn!"  She repeatedly said, "corn, corn, corn" like it was so amazing to her to see so much in one place.

Sammy did the zipline while my girls pretended.

How awesome to have a slide coming off the deck of the lodge!!

Hay rack ride to the other side of the farm and a tour of the farm.

Mena and Maggie both had school pictures taken this year.  Maggie's were done at Rosemont Daycare and Preschool.  Mena's were done at Kahoa.
