Girl Scout Field Trip to the Fire Station

Our Daisy Girl Scout Troop visited the Fire Station for one of our meetings.  The girls were interested in seeing everything on the truck and engine.  They watched while the second man put on his gear.  As more of him was covered up, they moved further back from him and closer to me.  He even laid down on the floor to demonstrate what he'd look like if he came crawling to find them in a house fire.  All the girls got inside the ambulance and then took a picture in front of the truck before giving the firefighters some Girl Scout Cookies as a thank you.

I'm Not Tired

Maggie seemed kind of spacey during church but she said she wasn't tired.  After lunch Maggie said she wanted to watch videos on her tablet.  She fell asleep in bed holding her tablet :-)

Camping

We didn't camp over Easter due to the weather so the whole family went camping April 17th - 19th instead.  It rained off and on so we'd do something in the camper and then we'd go out to ride bikes and such.  The kids had a lot of fun with their cousins and with two little girls in the camper next to ours.  I spent some time running beside Maggie's bike while she was building up her confidence.  She still has training wheels on but gets fearful when she gets going faster.  Mena is confident on the bigger bike with training wheels to ride ahead of me.  She really wants to go up on the road behind the campers but I told her she has to be able to ride up the hill without walking her bike before I'll let her ride up there.  She practiced on that hill over and over.  She gets fearful going down the hill and is learning to use her brakes to slow herself down.  One time when I wasn't watching, Mena got on her bike without her helmet and then crashed.  She scraped up her face but no fat lip.  Luckily her sweatshirt and pants protected her arm and leg.  When we got home the girls just wanted to rest in bed with their tablets.  They were really quiet all the rest of the day!

Kindergarten Music Program

Mena's Kindergarten Spring Music program was enjoyable.  She's still singing the songs at home and was so proud of herself.  I sat on the opposite side but another mom was in front of Mena and sent me her pictures that turned out better than mine.  The bonus for Mena was that she got to go home with me after the program which meant she got out of school slightly early and didn't have to go to daycare.  Below is the video of most of the program.

Jelly Bean Prayer

top image

I used the Jelly Bean Prayer in Sunday School the week after Easter.  Each child rolled out two snakes to make a cross and then got one jelly bean for each color of the Jelly Bean Prayer to put on the cross.  After they finished they got some to eat too.  Ours kind of spread out too much because they sat in my car while we were at my cousin's wedding shower.

Easter Eggs

We didn't get our Easter eggs dyed before Easter so we did it today.  The Easter Bunny hid plastic eggs with candy in it, so we dyed the eggs today.  The girls had just as much fun today so I don't feel bad about not getting it done before the holiday!

Wedding Shower

Today we had a wedding shower for my cousin Jessica.  Here I am with all my girl cousins.  When I told Maggie we were going to a wedding shower, she got a puzzled look on her face and asked, "Are we all going to take a shower together?  Should we bring our swimsuits?"

Mena's First Loose Tooth

This morning while flossing Mena's teeth, I saw that an adult tooth had broken through the gum and then felt the wiggly tooth.  Mena is super excited; she's been waiting "forever!!!"

Easter Egg Hunt

This appeared to be serious business for Mena to hunt for eggs in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard.  I couldn't catch her smiling in any of the pictures!  If you notice in the one picture, Mena is going for an egg but she's watching the dog on the other side of the fence to see if he's going to bark at her.  Maggie's cutest moment was when she told me the egg "is right beside my pet turtle!" when referring to the turtle statue that my mom has.  Maggie carried the "pet" turtle and rabbit all over the yard while playing that morning!

Play Date with Aurora

Friday there was no school so Aurora came to play while her mom was at work.
They had a lot of fun playing inside and outside.  Making a train down the slide didn't work so well; Mena came un-hooked and Maggie didn't even get a chance to sit down before they started sliding down!  Angie and Ryan stayed for supper before taking Aurora home.  They were wore out by bed time!
