Shaking Her Head
Mena has figured out how to shake her head. Here she's laughing while she shakes her head and then she's talking to me.

9 Months Old
Mena is now 9 months old. To celebrate we took her to two different doctor appointments today :) This morning we saw the specialist. Last month the specialist said Mena should be on formula only and on the medicines milk of magnesia and probiotic pills. It seemed to work. She hasn't been constipated at all in the last month. This morning the specialist said that we should continue both meds and that we could start introducing solid foods again. For lunch she ate a box of stage one peas and for supper she ate a box of stage one green beans. She was like a little bird who just kept opening her mouth for more. In the afternoon we visited her pediatrician for her 9 month check up. She weighs 20 pounds 2 ounces (50-75%) and is 29 inches long (75-90%).
Henry Doorly Zoo
On June 6th we met my mom, my sister Beth, and my nephew Peyton at the Henry Doorly Zoo. It was a fun day and Mena seemed to enjoy it. She really wasn't sure what to think of most of the animals. She did start "talking" when she looked at the elephants, but otherwise she was pretty quiet all day. She just stared at my family and gave them a few smiles. We got home and she started babbling non-stop until we put her to bed that night!
Best Friends
Mena will roll all the way across the living room to get to Emmy Lou. Emmy Lou lets her tug on her collar, grab her ears, or tail and never does anything but lick Mena. After a couple minutes Emmy Lou gently disentangles herself from Mena's arms and walks far away from Mena :)
Angela Comes to Visit
Gene's friend Angela from Wyoming came to visit on May 16th. Mena's going through a phase with high stranger anxiety, but she responded to Angela like she responds to Gene and I! We were amazed. Mena tried very hard all evening to pull the heart off of Angela's shirt! Mena's got a new friend and hopes she is able to come visit again soon!
And the Walls Came A-Tumbling Down
On May 16th we watched the construction crews knock down the house 2 doors down from us. Tabitha is putting in some assisted living facilities and the place where this house was taken down will actually be a parking lot. Gene and I thought it was weird to see a house identical to ours just crumble under that machine. Mena was more interested in sticking her tongue out at Daddy and talking to the tree I was standing next to!
