Last of the hot days
We love eating on the front porch. I sewed a t-shirt into a tank top for myself so we “needed” to take pictures of ourselves the night before I went back to work.

Mena in the store: I want a Wonder Woman t-shirt, too.
Mena on the drive home: I don’t really like Wonder Woman. I just wanted to match you.

Philomena wanted a picture with all 3 parents. Maggie wanted no picture, but she took this one for us.

New School Year
Philomena is starting 6th grade at Mickle Middle School. Maggie is starting 4th grade at Kahoa Elementary. Both girls will be remote learners at least for the beginning of the year. We’re currently in the orange with the number of covid-19 cases increasing still. If we can reduce exposure to germs, we’d like to. I have to go back to work at Kooser so the girls will spend their days at Gene’s house while I work. We took these pictures on a Sunday when no one else was at school.

Happy Birthday, Philomena and Tyler
We spent the afternoon as a family. All four families together like we used to do before the pandemic. It almost felt like life was normal. Philomena announced to the family that she wants to go by her full name now. She received money from everyone because she wants to redo her bedroom. Looks like I have some painting in my future!

4-H Exhibits
Maggie earned a Red Ribbon at the Lancaster County Fair for the pillow case she sewed.
Red means she met the majority of the standards on her project.
Mena earned a Blue Ribbon at the Lancaster County Fair for the photograph she took.
Blue means her project was above average.
Mena learning to Cook!
As I’m recovering from surgery, we’ve been eating the food that I cooked & froze before I had surgery. Mena wanted a fresh cooked meal & declared she would cook for us last night. I sat on the couch resting and told her how to cook the salmon filets. They turned out great for our supper!
Today Mena declared , “Our plan today is to cook and stay on top of the dishes!” First up was beer bread that we then used to make grilled meat and cheese sandwiches for lunch. For supper she helped me make hamburger pocket sandwiches. She needs a little more practice in rolling out the dough, but she was getting the hang of folding the dough over and sealing the edges around the hamburger and cheese mixture.
