Youth Group - Art Club

I am now the Youth Ministry Assistant at St. Mark's UMC.  Pastor Jay is doing the sports oriented activities and I'm leading the art activities.  I think we'll balance each other well.  About half way through the evening, Isabell asked if I was an art teacher.  I told her that I was a special ed teacher.  Her reply:  "I knew you gave me teacher vibes!"  When the fantasy football draft was done, some of those kids came to paint with us also!

Happy Birthday, Philomena & Tyler!

The best weekend for a family gathering was before both of the kids' birthdays but no one complained about early gifts!  Philomena turned 16 and Tyler turned 15 this year.  They both wanted money to save for buying a car!  She also received a necklace from Grandma.  Philomena knew that her bday gift from me was her letterman's jacket, but she didn't know when it was coming in.  I was able to pick it up, wrap it, and leave it with Grandma so Philomena never had a chance to see it.  After all the gifts were unwrapped, I brought out the gift from me and she was surprised!  I pulled it off!!

Marching Band Exhibition

Philomena started the year in pit for marching band.  She'll play trombone for pep band at the football games.  The band sounded really good and is fun to listen to.  Philomena is so much less stressed with this being her second year in band and is enjoying herself more as well!  Even though Maggie and I had to leave after the first hour, Grandma was able to stay for the full show.  Their dad and younger sisters were also at the show.

Lancaster County Fair - Table Setting

Maggie did a picnic theme this year with table setting.  She asked me to put her hair up which took a couple tries but turned out cute!  She hadn't tried her dress on until we were getting ready to go and woah has she grown!  Her legs just keep going on and on!  We didn't have time to find a new dress so shorts went under and off we went!  When her hand was behind her neck, I knew she was trying to remember what she'd planned to say.  Then her hands started moving as she talked and I knew she'd hit her groove.  As soon as she was done presenting, we drove downtown to watch Philomena's band exhibition.  We sat outside watching for an hour but the exhibition wasn't over and we had to go back to the fair.  We made it back in time to eat some supper and she stood by her picnic setting for the public walk through.  She was really tired by this point.  The hair had come down and she was feeling kind of grouchy.  She received a blue ribbon.  We stopped at DQ to celebrate her hard work and that put her in a better mood!  Lots of Maggie & Mom time over these 2 days which was fun!

Lancaster County Fai

Maggie received a purple ribbon for her pajama pants and a purple ribbon for showing her guinea pig, Desdemona.  It was a small show this year with 3 girls and 1 boy who had to leave early.  Maggie also got Judge's Choice award with her guinea pig.
