Pushing Backwards
I know this picture is a fuzzy but I only had my phone with me at the time. I laid Maggie on her tummy with her head by the yellow and green rattles that you see at the bottom of the picture. She proceded to push herself backwards until she was off the blanket where you see her in the picture. She played very happily pushing herself backwards while I got some stuff organized in the storage room.
Sleeping
Maggie likes to sleep on her side now that we don't put her in a sleep sack at nap/bed time. We like the warmer weather and less clothes to wear also!
Drinking Alone
Maggie is learning to hold her own bottle and has figured out how to drink out of a sippy cup. The fluid seems to come out of the sippy cup seems to fast for Maggie but I'm glad she figured out how to get the liquids out. For the most part we still hold her and the bottle since she'll drink more that way, but we're glad she's progressing. It's so much easier when a kid can feed themselves! Although, I do enjoy holding her to feed her when I know Gene is at home to respond to Mena.
Maggie's Friends
Maggie loves it when Ky or Traven are near her so she can interact with them. Ky has learned to sit a little ways away since Maggie started grabbing and pulling long hair.
Going on a Walk
Mena and Kylinn enjoy going on walks around the block. I put Maggie in the stroller so, of course, she stays with me. Kylinn is a speed walker and Mena likes to saunter. At first I had Mena way behind me and Ky way in front of me. Then I told Mena she had to stay in front of me. In the first picture, I stopped the stroller so both kids got a bit ahead of me, but you can see how Ky was still in front of Mena. So then I told them we could only go on a walk if they held hands. By holding hands, Mena slows Ky down a bit and Ky speeds Mena up a bit and we all stay together. A walk around the block takes about 20 minutes.
Relaxing
1--Mena relaxing in the recliner watching a video at nap time.
2--Mena put stickers all over Daddy's face :)
EXCITE Program
We found out that Mena has been accepted into the EXCITE Program at LPS. Instead of a teacher from Early Head Start and a teacher from LPS visiting our house once a week, Mena will begin going to an EXCITE classroom 5 mornings a week this fall. I took the girls on a walk to show Mena her new school, Holmes Elementary. Mena is very excited to go to school and got mad when I told her she can't go right now. A school bus will pick Mena up at our house and take her to school for me since I don't have a vehicle big enough to fit all the kids to take Mena to school. The school is 10-15 minutes walking distance from our house.
