7 Months Old

Maggie is now 7 months old. She weighs 20.4 pounds. She's in 6-9 month clothing. Feeding Maggie is so easy compared to all the work I went to for Mena's homemade baby food. Maggie can eat wheat or oat baby cereal; she could probably eat the other cereals but I haven't tried yet. Maggie eats all kinds of commercially made baby food fruits and veggies and meats. The only foods I'm making from scratch is that I found frozen veggies I can make for a lot cheaper than what Gerber baby food costs. I got a little $10 food processor at Target so I can make a cup of pureed veggies at a time. This I put in the frig and she eats before it spoils so there's no freezing of baby foods like I did for Mena. I can also throw a can of fruit into the processor and give the same fruit to Maggie that the other kids are eating. When we have cream of wheat with peaches, Maggie eats the same thing as the big kids.

Maggie consistently takes a morning nap and an afternoon nap. She's phasing out of her evening nap and is sleeping longer at night for us. She goes to bed at 8 pm like Mena now. In the mornings, Gene had been waking her up at 5 am to feed her before he got ready for work and then she was waking up at 5 am on Saturdays, too. He rearranged his morning and started letting her sleep later so she's getting closer to 6:30 now. On Saturday she is beginning to sleep later, too, which makes our weekend more relaxing.

Jake and Maggie are beginning to play with the same toys now so that's interesting to see how the sharing goes since they are so young.

Swing

Maggie likes to swing outside and has figured out she doesn't have to just lean back in the swing. She can sit up and even chew on it!

Jumping

Maggie enjoys jumping. We don't have a doorway in the new house where we could hang the Johnny Jumper for her, but she can jump in her other two toys. The exersaucer can go outside and the Einstein jumper I keep in the playroom.

Grass

So far I've only put Maggie in the grass on a blanket. When she scooted herself to the edge to feel the grass, she wasn't sure what to think. After a while she got tired and just laid her head on the block so she could still see the big kids playing. In the last picture you can kind of see how she pushes her bottom up in the air.

Pushing Up

Maggie's arms are getting strong to push herself up and she's learning to reach into the box to pull out her own toys. She's beginning to push on her feet so her bottom goes up in the air but hasn't yet figured out how to get her knees under her. I tried setting her in the crawl position to see what she'd do and she got this freaked out look on her face and immediately dropped herself down to her tummy. She's close to figuring it out.

Sitting and Watching

To keep Maggie safe, I put her in the pack n play while the kids play and I get lunch ready. She's thrilled now that she can sit up and see the kids through the mesh sides of the pack n play. Here's she's pulling on the toy and making it play the music.

Rolling Over

Again, I only had my phone on me at the time so the photos aren't the best, but you can see how Maggie used that leg of the pack n play to wrap her foot around and help her flip over. Seemed kind of cute; well, she's always cute :)
