All By Mom's Self

Thanks to the clear directions from my friend Ryan (who built this curio cabinet for me 10-12 years ago) I was able to add the two glass shelves so I could display 4 nativities.  I hope my girls see that girls can do anything and there is no such thing as boy hobbies and girl hobbies.  I like using tools!

Maggie's Stuck

Maggie was playing with the Styrofoam packaging from my new printer.
She was mad when she couldn't get it back off her head!

Funny conversation from a previous day:

Maggie:  Mommy, I want a snack.
Me:  Ok.  Do you want some cheese?
Maggie:  No.  No, cheese.
Me:  What do you want to eat?
Maggie:  Something in my mouth.
Me:  Something in your mouth?  (laughing)
Maggie:  Yes, something in my mouth.
Me:  Ok.  (I walk to the frig and pull out a stick of cheese.)  Do you want this?
Maggie:  Yes, I want that.
Me:  Here you go.

She brings such humor to my days!

Peyton and Puck

Peyton spent the night with us on Saturday, May 4th.  His favorite part of our apartment was our pet guinea pig, Puck.  He was GREAT with Puck.  I could even leave the room while he was holding Puck or helping the girls hold Puck.  As Peyton made the hide-a-bed, he told me, "I tucked in the sheets so it'll be ready for the next time I spend the night."  Glad to hear he'll be back!

Painting

After painting Mena's dresser, I wanted to paint my furniture.  I matched the blue paint to my quilt and bathroom towels.  Mena and Maggie like it, too.

My God is So Big

Mena's choir sang "My God is so Big."  She did a great job on the actions!

Jake Spends the Night

Peg went with Jon for his show in Brownville and I kept Jake overnight.  The kids had a lot of fun playing while I made supper.  Then they played some more and when I was ready for them to calm down, I gave them popcorn and a movie.  All three kids slept in the girls' room.  I put Jake on one of my camping cots and he brought his sleeping bag.  They really went down well.  I remember turning my lights out at 10 pm and they were all asleep.

The next morning I got them all up for church since Mena was singing.  I really think that going from 1 kid to 2 kids was a big adjustment.  Going from 2 kids to 3 kids was no big deal.  Especially since none of them are babies.  Everything went smoothly and we were to church early!

After church Peg and Jon came for lunch and I got to use my table for company again!  It worked so well and I really enjoy having friends and family over!

Haley Sleeps Over

My friend Karen was going to Mother of All Garage Sales on Saturday and I was going to babysit Haley for her.  Friday night we went out to their house so my girls could see the baby chicks they just got on their farm.  When we came home, Haley decided to come with us.  Haley talked the entire way home even though we thought for sure they'd fall asleep so we put everyone in their jammies before we left their house.  Then when I got all the girls in bed, Maggie wouldn't stop talking!

The next morning the girls played so well that I was able to reorganize some of my stuff into plastic totes to go in my outdoor closet.  The girls took pictures of each other.  Then when Karen was done shopping we went to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch since Mena had earned her trip to Chuck E. Cheese for going to bed nicely 14 nights.  The going to bed nicely hasn't been very consistent but we're working on it.
