Hiking at Schramm SRA

Sunday afternoon, we went back to Schramm to do the hiking that Mena wanted to do the previous day.  The map showed two trails.  When we got to where it split, I asked Maggie if she had enough energy for the second trail or if we should stay on the first trail.  She said let's go on the second trail.  An hour and a half later we made it back to the car!  They stopped to take lots of pictures of everything they saw.  Mena and I tended to see the bigger forest while Maggie found the snails and bugs that were smaller.  Maggie took a video of a snail crossing the path.  That took awhile!

Louisville SRA Playground

Sunday morning we slept in and then played at the playground.

Platte River SRA

We ate lunch back at our camper and then we drove to Platte River SRA to try their new splash pad.  It was nice to cool off but we didn't stay that long since the girls started getting bored.  We climbed the wood tower and then drove back to Louisville SRA.

Schramm State Recreation Area

Vacation Bible Camp ended on Thursday and we left on Friday to camp at Louisville State Recreation Area.  Friday we got set up in the afternoon and enjoyed the evening around the campground with Beth, Tim, Peyton, and Tyler.

Saturday morning we went to Schramm SRA.  The three tiered ponds were really low.  The first had algae covering it.  The second had tall grasses growing.  The third one had 6 fish that we saw.  The ponds where the ducks and geese swim were over full like all the other lakes and rivers in Nebraska.  After looking at the ponds we went to the playground.  It is so fun to remember how scared the girls were the first time I brought them here 6 or 7 years ago and  how they have now mastered everything on this playground!

After the playground we did some hiking, but Maggie's little legs were getting tired so we cut it short when Mena wanted to go hiking more and more and more.  We drove to the Aksarben Aquarium that used to be free and now it's renovated and charging $10 per adult and $7 per child.  I walked back out because we had other plans for where we were going to spend our money and that $24+tax was not part of the budget.

We saw a woman that looked familiar so I yelled out her name and sure enough, it was Mena's teacher at the park at the same time as us!  Mena was thrilled to see her again!

Vacation Bible Camp

We had between 32 and 38 kids each night for Vacation Bible Camp.  The girls had a ton of fun.  I helped where needed which meant I was at the check-in table each night as well as shepherding a group each night.  One night I was able to shepherd Mena's group and two nights I shepherded Maggie's group.

Junior Spartan Show Choir Camp

Show Choir fell on a daddy week, but he agreed to pay half and allow me to transport her to and from camp each day.  Most days he brought Mena to me on his way to work rather than daycare so I could make sure she got lunch before camp started.  It was nice to see the girls a bit more on that off week than usual.  Maggie enjoyed the performance at the end of the week.  Gene was home with his younger children and Jessie came to see Mena's performance.  Mena enjoyed camp again and can't wait for next year!
