Spring Band Concert

The spring concert is Mom's and my favorite concert to go to because we get to sit outside in lawn chairs listening to the band play.  The weather was great this year.  Philomena was in the first band that played and then due to being outside, we were able to leave quietly before the next band played and get home at a decent time!

Ice Cream - Maggie's Treat

Maggie wanted to go for ice cream and said she'd pay for it if I drove her there!  Yummy treat from my daughter!

2010 Corolla

It took a few months, but we finally found a car that was worth buying for Philomena.  She loves the independence and I love having an hour of my time back each day!

Family Birthday Gathering

We celebrated the February birthdays (Beth, Peyton, and Jacob) at Cracker Barrel in Omaha.  We had to wait until Philomena was done with Show Choir season so we celebrated in March :)

Auction Basket

Philomena spent her own money to put together a basket for the church auction.  She bought some items to do with the children and included a certificate for 6 free hours of babysitting.  The family that bought the item during the silent auction didn't need the babysitting but their family enjoyed the activities.

Small Ensemble Contest - Philomena Percussion Group

Maggie and I went to watch Philomena's percussion group play at the small ensemble contest.  They scored a 2.  It was great to listen to; we both enjoyed it!  After we went to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate even though Philomena didn't feel it went the best.  I reminded her that judges don't just look for mistakes but for how you handle your mistakes and keep going.  I didn't notice any mistakes so I told her they each covered well and that no one is perfect.  We really are our own worst critics.

Funnel Cakes

I came home from a teacher training to find that Maggie was making a funnel cake all by herself. I looked at the pan and asked Maggie what in the world she was doing.  She had dumped the entire bowl of batter in the pan all at once.  The next day we had off from school due to the cold weather.  I then made funnel cakes correctly and she watched me.  She said it tasted great the way I made them!
