Dr. Seuss

For Dr. Seuss' birthday/Read Across America week, the kids made their own hats like "The Cat in the Hat." Then we tried green eggs and ham to go with that book. We also traced our bodies and glued our names on our paper to go with "The Shape of Me." It was a fun week!

Science and Sensory

Learning to use a magnifying glass--might work better with your eyes, rather than your nose :)

Can't play outside in the sandbox when it's this cold and windy, but we can play with rice in a box in the house! They seem to have mastered the sharing concept--until they don't feel like sharing, that is!

Rattle Shaking

Maggie will now shake a rattle if we put it into her hand. Of course, she doesn't really have an understanding of what she's doing and will look surprised when she wacks herself in the head!

Back Rub

I laid on the floor (on my stomach--WOW!) to read my magazine and Mena climbed on top of me. Gene showed her how to give me a back rub and then took a picture. The back rub was good and didn't last nearly long enough!

Birthday Gathering Continues

We moved from the restaurant to Beth and Tim's house for cake and ice cream.

The first picture is Maggie and Mena with Grandpa and Grandma.

The second picture is Mena, Maggie, Kayla, Jake, Tyler and Peyton--all the cousins.

The last picture is Tyler, Mena, Maggie, Kayla, Jake, and Peyton chowing down on cupcakes and ice cream cake.

More Birthday Dinner Pictures

Peyton loves getting his cousin Mena and making her laugh! Mena's become quite attached to Grandma Frye and spends a lot of time sitting on her lap when we see Grandma!

Birthday Dinner

Technically we celebrated Dad's 60th birthday by my having surgery and Dad watching Mena and Maggie at our house on December 10th.  Now that I'm healed we went out to dinner to celebrate my Dad's birthday along with Peyton's 6th b-day, Jake's 1st b-day, Kayla's 19th b-day, and Beth's 34th b-day.  (Should I have listed my sister's age? :) She's younger than me so I think it's ok!)  Maggie made her way around the entire table as everyone took a turn holding her--Dad, Mom, Beth, (Tim also held her but that pic didn't turn out), Peg, Jon, and Kayla.  Notice how Peyton followed Maggie from person to person on our side of the table!
