Duncan and Mena

The first picture is of Mena giving Duncan back his binkie. I really thought she'd pop it into her mouth but she doesn't! The second picture is of Mena and Duncan enjoying their morning together.

The last picture is of Mena sitting in the bumbo. The bumbo seat was upstairs so Duncan could sit in it, but when Duncan wasn't using it Mena got in the habit of sitting in it. This was quite the effort for her to climb in as she would put one leg in so that she was sitting on that foot, then turn herself around to face forward and then have to lean back so she could pull that foot out from under her. Then when she wanted out she had to lean forward and crawl out of it which involved a big effort to pull each leg out! I figured the exercise was good for her and never once helped her in or out despite her grunting and yelling in frustration when she got stuck midway. She was always so proud to have gotten in and out!

Sleeping

I think she just looks so cute sleeping. Here Mena is in her new pajamas. Her 18 month pajamas were too short so we had to get some in size 2. At this time they were on the clearance rack so that was nice. Also picked up size 3 for next year.

Smiles While Playing

Mena is full of smiles pretty much all day long! She enjoys playing with her toys, but also enjoys using the tv remote. She knows she needs to point it at the tv and she's successfully turned down the volume and changed the channel for Gene. Gene would have preferred to be able to hear the tv and might have chosen a different channel but Mena had other things in mind evidently!

Mommy and Daddy Time

Mena letting Daddy know she wants to be held. Then Mena and Daddy laughing. Mommy giving Mena a kiss. Then Mena sitting up and pointing at Daddy. She's just so darn cute!

Peg's Baby Shower

While at Peg's Baby Shower we got a picture of Great Grandma Frye, Mena, and I. Great Grandma Frye is now living at Nye Legacy so it was really valuable time that we got to spend with her. We got all four of the grandkids to sit together on the couch, but getting them to all look at the camera and smile turned out to be very difficult!

Feeding Emmy Lou

Gene had given Emmy Lou her food that morning but she hadn't eaten it. Later in the morning, Mena crawled back by the kennel and started picking out one piece of food at a time. Emmy Lou laid down beside her and started eating out of her hand. Mena would yell at the dog if she tried to get the food out of her hand before she was ready. For the most part Emmy Lou waited patiently for her one morsel of food at a time, but about half way through the dish Emmy Lou stood up, put her snout in the dog dish and ate everything that was left in 2-3 bites. Mena was quite upset that she couldn't finish feeding her and let us know her opinion with all her yelling at the dog.

This happened a few days in a row and then Mena decided that she wanted to eat some of the food, too. She was sucking on the dog food that I pulled out of her mouth. She didn't seem turned off by the flavor and was mad that I took it away from her. Now if Emmy Lou doesn't eat her food right away we have to put the dog food up out of Mena's reach. When I work on dog tricks then I will tell Emmy Lou what to do and let Mena give her the dog treat. Everybody's happy this way.

Grandma and Aunt Peg Visit

Mom, Peg, and I went to a movie, and before they went home they came in to see Mena. Mena warmed up to Grandma with the tickling and by sitting on my lap next to her. Poor Peg! Mena didn't warm up to her and when Peg blew air through her lips, Mena was fighting to get off her lap!
