Mena Can Ride Her Bike!

Mena can now balance on her bike!  She can start herself when she has a wide enough sidewalk to ride on.

Maggie's Hair

Maggie wants her hair to grow longer.  She's struggling to keep the tangles out so she's starting to want it pulled up.  First we did a ponytail for the front part of her hair and then we switched it to a barrette so her bike helmet would fit on her.  She told me I was holding her hair like I was strangling an animal.  I laughed and asked what that meant.  She told me I was holding it too tight and pulling on her hair.  A few days later she decided she wanted Dutch braids.  I did French braids because I didn't know what Dutch braids were.  Friends on Facebook explained that Dutch goes under where French goes over.  The next day I did a Dutch braid on the left and French on the right because I needed to hurry up before she yelled at me!  It'll take some practice to do a Dutch braid but others tell me it actually holds the hair better when done tightly.

East Campus Walk

The girls thought the arboretum on East Campus would be a great place to get married.  They pretended to feed each other cake and take wedding pictures.  Maggie crawled down into the ravine and was encouraging to Mena that she could do it too!

Henry Doorly Zoo

Henry Doorly Zoo opened June 1st.  Everyone has to have a ticket registering what time they are to enter the zoo so that guests can be spaced appropriately.  It was busy but not crowded.  We wore our masks while in line to enter and then didn't wear them in the zoo.  Each family kept themselves 6 feet from the other families so I didn't worry about Covid while on the path.  It is 1.8 miles long to view outside animals.  None of the buildings are open.

Doll Masks

Maggie said she needed my help sewing a mask for Barbie to wear.  Then as I was putting things away, she yelled at me, "Ken needs a mask, too!"

Holmes Lake

Maggie was grouchy that the walk around Holmes Lake was so long.  She wanted to turn around and go back but I told her we just needed to keep going to finish the circle.  We stopped for breaks on benches.  I promised her ice cream if she would stop whining and complaining.  We agreed to walk at her pace rather than Mena's or mine and then she was in a better mood!  She does want to go back again so hopefully we can get a good pace set that doesn't wear her little legs out before our longer legs.

Wonder Woman Seat Cover

I bought material and made the seat cover for Maggie's seat to fit the wider shoulder area and replaced the ripped material by the seatbelt fastener.  It looks so nice again!
