Mena was excited to receive her 3rd Grade Bible at church this year. She was really nervous because she remembered that in past years, Pastor David has asked the kids to find a Bible verse for them to read and talk about. After the children's time, she came back to the pew and excitedly told me, "He put bookmarks in this year so I could find it easily!" Mena is in the pink dress with jean jacket and striped headband. She's been reading it here at home.

Mena's Friend Birthday Party
Due to scheduling conflicts, we had to postpone Mena's friend birthday party until Sunday, October 1st. Mena said, "That's fine because I'm not getting presents anyway." This year I decided since the girls have so much that we could use their birthday parties as an opportunity to give to others in need. The girls chose the Humane Society. Presley, Mena, Holly, and Adisynne sat with all the donations while holding their emoji faces under the emoji birthday sign. The poster says, "Throw kindness around like Confetti!"
I had enough cupcakes left from the family party that each girl was able to eat 2. I let them spread their own frosting and sprinkles on the cupcake which they thought was fun. The girls played well together the whole 2 hours they were here.

Bug Bites
Maggie is such a picker! Chiggers got her this summer and she wouldn't stop scratching at them and then she wouldn't stop picking the scabs. The pediatrician gave her a prescription to prevent infection, but she still kept picking at them. She thought it was funny the night I put all the band-aids on after her bath, but come Monday it was a different story. I apparently have traumatized her by sending her to school this way. Supposedly, the entire school was talking about her band-aids; she could only name a handful of kids that asked her about all the band-aids.

Outdoor Toy Storage Bench
Sam's Club had storage benches on clearance so I bought one for our backyard toys. The box sat in the backyard through two rainstorms before I had time to put it together. It was a Friday night with no plans so I decided to put it together after supper. The girls were great helpers. The only trouble was when the interchangeable screwdriver bit fell out in the wood chips. We finally found it with a magnet!

Mena and Tyler's Birthdays
Mena enjoyed her two new lego sets and was excited to go shopping with her Build-a-Bear gift card. Ty was a ham while we sang Happy Birthday to them! Beth's family left before the thunderstorm hit. Peg's family hadn't left before it started and decided to wait for it to lessen-up so they could see to drive safely. The three kids went downstairs and Papa turned on the tv for them while the adults hung out upstairs.
Mena's birthday request was to spend the night at Grandma's so we stayed the night. The next morning we went to Fremont for church with Grandma Olson and then Uncle Jim and Papa joined us for lunch.

Maggie Sleeping with Mom
The picture is kind of fuzzy since it was dark in my bedroom. Maggie crawled into bed with me during the night and we both went right back to sleep. In the morning I woke up with her face in my armpit!

Happy 9th Birthday, Mena!
Mena turned 9 years old! She wanted a white cake with flowers on it. Thanks to Pampered Chef, I was able to make some flowers that looked decent on the cake. Mena loved it! She opened her present and asked, "Did I ask for these curtains?" I told her that yes, she'd asked for them and I'd taken a picture of her holding them at Walmart so I was able to make sure I got the exact set she asked for. She told me she liked the old pink ones better. We decided to combine them and decided they look really good together. The purple do not block light so I am glad she decided to keep the pink, also!
Mena was happy for Maggie to be in one picture with her and her cake, but the second one she screamed, "Get out of my picture!" It is hilarious that I snapped the picture at just the right time to get her yelling! Sisters can be so annoying ;-)
I spread all the candles around the lettering and she blew out all but 2 of them. Oops, I wasn't thinking about being able to blow them out!
Mena's hair is looking so pretty as she grows it out and bangs look good on her again!
