We went to Gringo's for lunch on Mother's Day with mom and grandma. Philomena got me a bouquet of lego flowers with some candy. Maggie painted a picture of me.

Both girls were student managers for Unified Track this year. Maggie received her Scholar Athlete patch with a 3.9 GPA and an award for most willing to help. Philomena received an award for most organized and an award for scholar athlete with a 4.1 GPA. She already got her patch her freshman year.

Grandma, Maggie and I enjoyed Philomena's choir concert. High School music performances are so good!

Maggie's Bed
Grandma decided to redo the yellow room and Maggie got an upgrade to the bed with drawers that she was no longer keeping. Maggie likes the bigger bed!

Prom
Philomena and Rebecca went to Prom together. They got ready at our house and I did Philomena's hair. I used my new backdrop for the photos. I think I'll add some light blocking fabric on back so the pictures look better next time. The girls went to the Sunken Gardens and Rebecca's parents took pictures of them there. The girls went to dinner at Cheddar's before Prom and also enjoyed post-prom at the high school.

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
I made bacon wrapped asparagus and Maggie ate the part that she liked: only the bacon! I laughed as she walked away.

Car Accident
Philomena rear ended a pickup truck. There was no damage to his truck and she only has a square imprint of his hitch receiver on her front bumper. Unfortunately, she sprained her thumb/wrist and got a bit of whiplash. The doctor took x-rays twice and didn't see any fracture. Both are taking about 4-6 weeks to heal.

Irlen's Glasses!
Philomena's new glasses arrived. It was a change for her to get used to but the tinted lenses are a big help to her!

Paint Yourself Silly
Saturday, we all slept in at home in our own beds. Then our family spring break activity was Paint Yourself Silly and Qdoba. I sat and chatted with the girls while they painted. It was good to spend time with them after going 4 days without seeing them. They used to spend 7 days at their dad's but now I'm used to seeing them daily! We decided we like Qdoba better than Chipotle.

Washington, DC
I went to visit Jeff over Spring Break. President Trump has fences up all around the White House so you can't get close. The Washington Memorial, Reflection Pond, and Lincoln Memorial were great. It was quite the surprise to run into Pastor Kaj while at the Lincoln Memorial! The Einstein statue was huge! I also was glad to see the Vietnam, Korean, and WWII memorials. I couldn't see myself living there. There are so many people and so many cars! Way too crowded for me!
While I visited Jeff, the girls stayed with Grandma Frye. Maggie baked cookies with Grandma. When I arrived home, there was a baggie of cookies for me on my desk. Then Maggie came into my room saying that she couldn't sleep and that she needed to eat one of them! My flight home was delayed.
My First Text: So there’s a fire somewhere in the airport that has stalled all airplanes. No outgoing flights at this time. We’re sitting on the plane with the hope that it will be taken care of shortly 🤷🏻♀️
My Second Text: The pilot said he doesn’t really know anything so we can ask questions but he probably doesn’t have an answer since they just told him to sit tight. 😆
Philomena's Text: Happy Friday the 13th mom
My Text: They de-boarded us at 6:40 pm. They told us We have at least a 3 hr delay. There's an evacuation of a building due to a chemical smell. It’s now spread from DC to NYC and other surrounding airports. The location of the chemical smell effects the airports from DC to NYC to Philadelphia etc. they control the air between airports to avoid crashes.
6:31 pm: We just reboarded.
10:09 pm: Finally landed in Omaha 3 hrs late. At least I'm home! Well almost home! I’m using the bathroom and then driving home.
I came home to a very clean house. The girls didn't want to wait for me at Grandma's so they came home. Philomena cleaned the house while waiting for me! Maggie said she was glad that I was finally home. She didn't text me much over the 4 days I was gone but she definitely missed me. Philomena texted and called regularly. I got homesick for them by the 3rd day. Next time, I definitely need to call them more so I can enjoy my trip without missing them. I don't think I could move there but I'll be visiting Jeff again.
