Jake and Mena

On February 24th, we met Peggy at the mall to walk indoors since it was so cold out. Jake and Mena got to play in the play area while I fed Maggie a bottle.

Joint Bath Time

Mena thought it was absolutely thrilling to share her bath with Maggie. Saved me time, also, by putting them both in the same bath rather than continuing to bathe Maggie in the kitchen sink. Mena likes to help clean her sister and Maggie got out of the tub with one very clean belly!

Back in Business!

On Wednesday February 16th, Dr. DeBoise gave me clearance to exercise and work again!!!! Hallelujah!! Traven came back for me to take care of beginning February 21st. There's not enough room on my lap for all 3 kids so they are learning to sit in front of me for story time. Maggie does really well in the Bumbo for the time it takes me to read a Bible story, a regular story, and to watch us sing/dance a couple of songs. The second picture Mena is pretending to take Traven's picture with her phone and the last picture they are taking turns on the slide. It's so nice to see their sensitivity to each other developing even in the middle of the "I am the center of the universe" toddler mentality. It is great for Mena to have a playmate to motivate her to move around more. Also, the bonus for me is that she gets a ton of social time during the day so when Traven leaves and I want to get something done like exercising or cooking supper or whatever, she's content to go play by herself. Ah, life is good!

3 Months Old!

Maggie is now 3 months old. She's eating around 25 ounces each day. She takes between 3 and 5 naps a day with each of those varying from 30 minutes to 3 hours. At night she takes her last bottle around 9:30 pm, is in bed by 10 pm, and then sleeps until 5 or 5:30 am. During the week, I'm staying up with her at night and then Gene's getting up at 5 to get ready for work and takes care of her so I can sleep until 6:30 am. We're thrilled she's sleeping 7 hours at night for us. Maggie has been in her 3-6 month clothes for a month now. She weighs 15 pounds. Maggie is much more willing to do tummy time now that she's got Mena and Traven to watch--those crazy kids keep her attention and motivate her! I worry that Maggie will have a developmental delay like Mena but so far her development is right on track with where it should be so we are thankful for that!

Maggie laughed for the first time this month.  I was singing "The Wheels on the Bus" with Maggie and when I sang "the babies on the bus go giggle, giggle, giggle" I tickled her tummy and she let out a little laugh!

Olson Visit

February 19th the girls and I went up to Fremont to visit my grandparents.  My mom and grandma met us at Merrick Manor where Grandpa Olson is now living.  His alzheimer's disease has progressed drastically since his hip broke and they did surgery to fix his hip.  Mena was facinated with all the wheel chairs she saw that day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mena was not quite awake when we sat her at the table, but we wanted her to open her Valentine's Day gift before Daddy went to work. Mena opened her card (I think it is so cute how kids rip the envelope!), an outfit for her baby doll, a little girl with puppies and kittens for her doll house, and an Elmo book. She was pretty excited and awake as she realized what we'd handed her!
