As a remote teacher, I have to make contact with my student families weekly and I have to conduct all my IEP meetings via Zoom. I am now only using the table in my bedroom but getting organized took a lot of spreading out before I could feel like I knew what I was doing. The girls have had to adjust to when they can or can't talk to me. I try to close the door when I'm on Zoom and leave it open when I'm working. Only once have they interrupted a meeting. Mena came in whispering that Maggie thru something at her. Next Maggie came in loudly complaining about her sister. I’m unable find my mute button because something is covering it. I tell everyone on the Zoom "just a minute" & then say to Maggie, "Don’t throw stuff at your sister. You know better. I’m in a meeting. Go play quietly until I am done. Go!" I then turn back to my meeting & everyone is holding in their laughter.

Burger King
I worked until 5:30 pm preparing for IEP meetings so we drove through Burger King and then ate a picnic supper on a blanket at Mahoney City Park. It was a nice way to relax as well as get out of the house. Mena said, "This is great! Mom's so stressed and busy with work that we get to go out to eat twice in one week!"

Coronavirus Changes
Walmart now has the entrances limited to one entrance and a limit as to how many people can be in the store. There are taped Xs on the sidewalk to space people 6 feet apart. It is being asked at all stores that there be only one person per cart and no children. People aren't following it strictly. Some couples are still shopping together. Some parents have to bring their little kids. I'm either leaving my girls at home or in the car when I go into stores now. My shopping is done mostly by ordering for pick up and I only go in for a few things between orders.

Covid-19 Baby Boom

Media: covid-19 baby boom is coming.
Mena: What’s a covid-19 baby?
Me: In 9 months a lot of babies will be born.
Mena: Why is that?
I explain why, her eyes get big and then she starts giggling.
Maggie Pulled Her Own Tooth!
For the first time ever, a tooth was so loose that Maggie pulled it out and brought it to me with a surprised look on her face!

Class Zoom
Maggie got to see her classmates on March 30th after not seeing them since March 6th. They were all very happy to see and talk to each other.
Walks
I've made a 10 am walk and a 2:30 pm walk part of our daily routine. Sometimes I end up with one ahead of me and one behind me. On this particular walk the distance was very notable so I posted on Facebook, "We’re not socially distancing; this is just what it’s like to go walking with a rabbit & turtle."
Another day we were having a good conversation while walking together. The shadows from the sun struck me as a neat photo of the three of us.
