Happy Birthday, Mommy!

For my birthday we went to Buzzard Billy's for dinner and then walked around the Hay Market.  The girls liked looking at the trains and sat up on this engine for our picture.

After we got home from Chuck E. Cheese, I gave Mena her birthday present.  She was excited to dance to her new VBS dvd and was mad when I said she would have to watch it another night because it was time to go to sleep.

Chuck E. Cheese

For Mena's birthday I surprised the girls by taking them to Chuck E. Cheese for supper.  They enjoyed all the games except when Noah's Ark started rocking Maggie freaked out!  I, of course, took a picture before I went to rescue her :)  This was the first time that Mena was brave enough to stand next to Chuck E. Cheese.  She actually came to find me and said, "Come take my picture, Mom!"

First Day of Sunday School

Maggie is still in the preschool Sunday School class that I teach.  I took a picture of the class and e-mailed it to the parents.  Mena is now in the school age class with Cathy.  She made this "All About Me" sign that is hanging in her classroom.

Children's Museum

Saturday, Sept. 6th, I told the girls we'd go to the Children's Museum without looking at a calendar.  We got downtown and it took me nearly 30 minutes to find a parking spot.  The girls were getting tired of driving around and I told them, "Well, my first plan didn't work.  So now I'm trying a second idea."  I'd worked my way up to the point where I said, "If this 4th idea doesn't work then we're just going to the mall for you to play there."  Luckily, I found a meter that allowed 90 minute parking.  It took us 15 minutes to walk to the museum so we ended up playing for an hour and then we left to get lunch.  We drove to the Arby's downtown but they had no parking so we drove up to 56th & O Street and the girls declared this was much better than the crowded downtown areas.

Monday of Labor Day Weekend

In order for me to get some exercise at the same time as the girls, I drove us to the church in our neighborhood.  I walked laps around the parking lot while the girls rode their bikes and played on the playground.  They were wiped out at the end of the day.  When I came out of the shower, Maggie had fallen asleep on my pillows.

Durham Museum

The Sunday of Labor Day weekend, we drove straight from church to Omaha.  The girls watched a movie on Mena's new DVD player to make the drive go faster.  First we stopped at a grocery store to buy some Lunchables.  We arrived at the park just as it started raining so we ended up eating in the truck.  It only rained for 30 minutes all day and it was the 30 minutes we were eating!  We then went to the Durham museum where the kids went to all their favorites.  I pretty much just follow them around since they know where to find everything.  The trolley is still their favorite, followed by the house, and now they were checking out how people sleep on a train.
