Christmas Vacation

The girls and I enjoyed snuggling in bed since we didn't have to go to school.  We also made a trip to the Children's Museum where the girls painted their faces and hands all by themselves.  We also made Grinch Popcorn (not as good as the Grinch Cookies) and watched the cartoon version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  Mena declared the cartoon much better than the Jim Carey movie version.

They rearranged how the Barbie house would best fit in the bedroom and enjoyed playing with their new Barbies in the new Barbie house.

Frye Christmas

We celebrated Christmas with my family on December 26th.  Peg, Jon, Jake, and us 3 were spending the night so my girls and Jake put on their pj's after the mid-afternoon meal and before we opened presents.  The girls received new comforters and new Barbies.  Maggie received a Doc McStuffin Operation game and Mena received a Lego Airplane.

Christmas Morning

Mena came out of her bedroom after I'd put the girls to bed so she saw the really big present I'd pulled out of the closet.  She said, "I see a really big present in the living room and I know it's from you because Santa only comes after we're asleep.  I won't tell Maggie until tomorrow morning."  She went back to bed without waking up Maggie.  The next morning she asked why Santa only brought their stockings this year.  I told her that he knew I was getting them everything they'd asked for so he just did the stockings this year.  Whew!  They quickly figured out that the big present was a Barbie house.  We set it up in their bedroom under the loft bed.

Christmas Eve

The girls and I lighted the Advent Candles at the 7 pm Christmas Eve service.  Gene and his wife came to our church.  Gene took the girls home and then I had to go pick them up. When we got home, the girls wanted to open a gift.  I decided to let them open the tickets to see Daniel Tiger at the Lied Center and Maggie's response was, "It's a piece of paper, Mom."  I let them finish opening the gifts from me that night since they were disappointed in the paper.  They were much more excited for the scooters, sleeping bag (Mena), and Barbie Jeep (Maggie).  They were excited to immediately hang up their new ornaments.

Mena's Winter Art

Mena's snowman says "If I were a snowman at night, I would do a snowball fight with the other friends."  Her pumpkin says she is thankful for "my mom going to work, parents, dad, Jesus, and food."

Maggie's Winter Art

Maggie had a lot of art work that may not keep well in the scrap book so I took pictures of it.

Maggie's Meadow Lane Preschool PJ Party

Maggie's preschool class had a pajama party and parents were invited for the last hour of class.  The principal read a story to the kids.  The kids sang their favorite songs with Miss. Jen for the parents.  Then the kids made a paper Gingerbread Girl or Boy and everyone a snowman made out of food items for snack.
