Halloween

Maggie dressed as a bride and Mena dressed as the bridesmaid.  Cathy then came up with turning our car into a church for the trunk or treat the Sunday before Halloween.  The girls enjoyed handing out candy.  Maggie thought the sign on the skeleton should have read "Waiting for Mr. Hogan" because her last name is Hogan.  I explained what it really meant but I could tell she didn't really get it.  About an hour later, she came to me and said, "Oh, I get it.  She's Mrs. Right and so she's waiting for Mr. Right."  Um, not quite.  Someday she'll get it, but not this year :)  On Halloween, we went to a trunk or treat at a church in our neighborhood and then walked Dorthy Dr like we did 2 years ago.  Every house on that street hands out candy and when their pumpkin buckets were full, I said it was time to go home.

Choir & Chimes

Mena has joined the youth chimes as well as both girls are in choir.  On October 21st, Alicia has the choir singing while Keegan and Mena played chimes.  Both girls did great!

Pheobe

Pheobe is continuing to grow.  I built a wooden toy box because she kept picking up the plastic tote to shake it in the air and it finally cracked.  She can push this toy box but not pick it up.  She's now 6 months old, spayed and weighed in at 32 pounds.

Lauritzen Gardens

Saturday, we were supposed to go visit Grandma Olson, but she wasn't feeling well.  I saw on Facebook that Lauritzen Gardens had free admission for their anniversary.  There were some neat gardens, but all three of us kind of thought "more flowers?"  The ponds, waterfalls, and gazebos were pretty.  The girls also liked looking at the train engines across the parking lot.  We spent about an hour and a half.  We all agreed that it was nice to see what it was but it wasn't some place we'd like to go to very often.  I'm glad I didn't pay money for us to go.  It was a beautiful place to take pictures.

We walked around Parables Bookstore and then met Grandma and Papa Frye at Fernando's for an early supper.  They were at home watching the Husker Football game while we went to the garden.

Prairie Field Trip

I was able to take a day of vacation to go on Mena's field trip.  Her fourth grade class went to the Prairie by Denton.  They learned about tall and short prairies.  They "swept" the prairie with nets and then inspected the bugs living on the prairie.  They talked about the parts of the plants and even colored a postcard using flower petals, leaves, and berries.  Mena paired up with Pearl.
