Elusive Sleep

This blurry picture shows Maggie running in front of a mirror.  She'd been so tired earlier in the day and then got a second wind.  She was watching herself run to tire herself out.  I used what I thought was a calm, neutral tone to tell her to lay down and both girls started giggling.  It reminded me of me and my sisters giggling and making the bed shake when we were in a hotel on vacation.  Dad would always tell us to go to sleep and we'd just giggle more.  It took awhile to get both girls to be quiet and fall asleep.  Maggie moved to sleep with me before quiet came over the room :)

Prayer Labyrinth - First United Methodist Church - North Platte

This wasn't on our list of things to do, but I am so glad we discovered it!  It was the girls' first introduction to a labyrinth and I found it very relaxing.

Cody Park Railroad Museum - North Platte

We were up in the middle of the night and you can see in these pictures how Maggie was getting tired!

Feather River Vineyard and Winery - North Platte

We got our stamps in the NE Passport, but the cat made it worthwhile for the girls!

Buffalo Bill's Ranch - North Platte

The buffalo calf was the highlight of our trip to Buffalo Bill's Ranch in North Platte.

Hastings, NE

We stayed our first night in Hastings and found this park nearby.  We all thought it was the best park we've seen!

Miletta Vista Winery - St. Paul - NE Passport

Miletta Vista Winery had beautiful landscape around it.

NE Passport - Aurora

We stopped in Aurora for a passport stamp at an art gallery.  Mena bought a glass pendant with a giraffe on it that was made by a local artist.  These pictures were taken in front of the Hamilton County Courthouse in the town square.  Maggie wanted to know why there weren't lines painted on the roads and I explained that in small towns you didn't need lines for people to know where to drive because there weren't very many cars.

Our first stop in Omaha for the NE Passport was the Malcolm X Foundation where Malcolm X was born.  We got our passport stamps and learned about what the foundation is working on.

Saro Cider & Burkholder Project - Lincoln - NE Passport

Our votes for Cider:
Mom’s adult raspberry cider 👍🏻
Mena’s house cider 👍🏻
Maggie “I’m just here for the ice” 👎🏻
Update from Maggie: I like it; I just had to get used to it 👍🏻🙂

We looked at art work at the Burkholder Project and got our stamps at Saro Cider & the Burkholder Project.

Band Camp - Philomena

Philomena attended band camp at Mickle the first week after school was out.  The last day, they gave a concert that Maggie, Grandma, and me attended.

Lincoln Children's Museum - NE Passport

The girls were excited that Lincoln Children's Museum was a stop on the NE Passport.  A lot has changed since we were last there.  Philomena is about as tall as a kid can be and still enjoy the exhibits!
