Mena's New Bedroom Arrangement

Mena rearranged her room to set up her new lights and tried on her new shirt before bed.  The next day she told me the shirt that Grandma bought her is as comfy as a sleep shirt and looks really nice!

Frye Christmas

We gathered on Sunday to celebrate Christmas with the extended family.  The girls were excited for each of their gifts.  Maggie's face is comical as she's inspecting the new fidget that Grandma bought the girls.  My parents are kind of opposites:  Dad is so reserved, he looks like he's sleeping.  Mom is animated when she likes the gift she received.

Christmas Morning

I received a new stocking and a Wonder Woman pop socket for my phone.  The girls liked that I'd added their names to their stockings.  Philomena liked the 4H ball cap, but Maggie flat out told me that she didn't like the hat.  I told her it was for when we volunteer in the 4H food booth and need to wear a hat.  She shrugged and tolerated my choice of matching hats for the 3 of us.  Maggie was excited for her painting supplies and her new chromebook.  Mena was excited for her own weighted blanket so now all 3 of us have one.  She was also excited for her chromebook.  This way the girls will no longer carry their chromebooks back and forth between houses.  They have one at each house.

I made Christmas dinner:  chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole and crescent rolls.  Mena made stuffing.  Then I made apple crisp for dessert and served it with ice cream.  When it was dark, we drove around looking at Christmas lights.  A great family day!

Christmas Eve - 10 pm Service

Philomena did the reading and I lit the advent candles at the 10 pm service.  Maggie didn't go up with us because she fell asleep before the service started and woke up during the last song.  I appreciated experiencing the service with my kids, even if one was asleep.  Divorced parenting makes me appreciate these moments more when I do have the kids.

Almond Bark Covered Pretzels

I melted the almond bark in the mini crock pot and the girls did the rest of the work.  So delicious!!
