Flames of the Holy Spirit

In Sunday School we talked about the disciples receiving the Holy Spirit that looked like flames above their heads.  We made our own Holy Spirit headbands to take home.  Maggie is on the right.

Haley's Birthday Party

The girls enjoyed Haley's birthday party the day after we got home from camping.  We didn't stay as long as we might have since we'd been gone all week.  I told Karen, "We've been gone all week and we need to go shopping for, I don't know, food!"

Camping Vacation -- Air and Space Museum

Thursday it rained again so we went to the Air and Space Museum.  They have a great children's area!!  A young man made gliders with the girls which they few off of the steps "almost as far as his!"  They had these giant blocks that the girls LOVED building a house with.  Then Maggie played with her glider while Mena went to the bathroom.  Mena explored traffic control on the computer while Maggie explored the xylophone, trains, and earthquake machine.  Maggie worked really hard to put together a building with blocks and pins that wouldn't fall down when the plate shook.

Neither of the girls wanted their picture taken in an astronaut cut out, but Maggie was fascinated with the cut out of Clayton Anderson, the astronaut from Ashland.  She was also very interested in watching the music video about NASA's Johnson Space Center.  The song and man were so dorky, but he showed a lot of what happens at the station in a fun way!  Maggie watched it twice or maybe three times while Mena and I explored nearby.  She even was dancing to it in front of the tv behind Clayton Anderson's cut out.

Camping Vacation -- Wading in the Lake

It wasn't supposed to be hot enough to go swimming so I didn't pack swimsuits.  Wednesday afternoon when it did get hot enough, we went wading in the lake and built sandcastles.

Camping Vacation -- Platte River State Park

The girls enjoyed climbing the tall tower at Platte River State Park.  Maggie repeatedly said, "We went to the tippy top!"  We went on a short hike in the woods behind the tower.  Mena is pondering whether to go left or right with her finger on her chin.  At one point I thought Maggie was right behind me and when I turned around I saw her digging in the mud.  She was so proud of her mud pie.
No one was camping in the tepee area so the girls were able to run between them playing, "You live in that one.  I'm going to live there.  And we have dance class in here."  They could have kept playing there for an hour; if I'd known that I would have brought a book back with me to read while they played!
