Camping at Two Rivers

I sold the old camper that had a leak around the a/c when I found this used camper at Leach RV.  This has an a/c, heater, couch, u-shaped dinette, and cabinets.  We can now camp in the colder spring and fall weather.  Grandma and Grandpa went camping with us.  It turned out to be a rainy weekend and we appreciated the indoor space to hang out!

Flu Shot

All of us got the flu shot, just like we do every year.  Mena had a reaction this year for the first time.  We iced her arm and the swelling went down in 48 hours.

Sonshine Singers

Both girls are in Sonshine Singers this year.  Maggie wasn't interested in choir after having a boy lead her group last year.  I made her try the first practice and she loved Hailey and Vicky leading.  She's scared to go in front of people, but I reminded her that being brave doesn't mean you aren't scared, brave means you do something even when you are scared.  The video was from practice and the pictures are from church.  She sang in both services.  Mena has such confidence that has grown over the last few years.  She used to be scared like Maggie but not any more!

Maggie wanted a picture with me after she sang.  She then saw a picture of Pam on the video and thought she looked like Pam.  She took my phone to show Pam the picture, but later Pam said that Maggie didn't mention the look alike aspect; she just shared the picture with Pam to see.  She was brave to show Pam considering in the past she never would have shown Pam a picture or talked to her without me glued to her side!

Maggie's Family

Maggie worked really hard in her class at Midweek Connect to create the picture of her whole family.  "My biological parents are here.  Then Mena and me.  Willa has short legs.  Holly likes to be near her mom and I had to draw Jessie so she could hold Aila cause Aila can't walk yet."  She was very focused on getting everyone in her picture, so that the rest of the class was done and coming over to my class to get their snack while Maggie finished.  Then she came for snack.

Mena's Birthday Slumber Party

Mena had 3 girls over for her birthday.  Adi was able to come for supper and the evening.  Presley and Pearl were able to come for supper and spend the night.  The girls made their own individual pizzas for supper.  Then I made brownies and they got to frost them in different colors.  Part of Adi's gift was supplies to make slime which got crazy!  Presley got her a unicorn purse that Mena thought was great.  I was really proud of Mena's response when Pearl said she didn't have the money to buy her a gift.  She acted like it was no big deal to not get a present and went right along playing like they had been.  I am so glad Mena values friendship over objects!

The evening worked well for Maggie, too.  Maggie's friend had a birthday party the same evening and the friend's parents were able to pick up and drop off Maggie since I couldn't drive her there.  Maggie had fun at the swimming birthday party and then was ready to snuggle with me.  Maggie was also very generous when Presley said she wanted to sleep alone in Maggie's room.  Maggie slept with me, Presley slept in Maggie's room, while Pearl shared Mena's double bed.  I had to remind Mena and Pearl to go to sleep a few times, but we still got 6 hours of sleep so that's a successful night in my mind!

La Paz for Mom's Birthday

Grandma and Papa met us at La Paz for dinner on my birthday.  It was great food and a great time with my family!

Mena's Birthday Present

I bought a used train table, cut new wood for the top, and bought 6 Lego plates to cover it.  Mena seemed disappointed that it wasn't something she could play with.  Since then, she's removed the Lego plates and used the table to make a doll house.  I still think the Lego table was a good idea for her, but not as exciting as a new toy to put on the table.
