New Year's Eve!

We spent New Year's Eve at Peg and Jon's.  The girls enjoyed playing with Jake and I enjoyed getting to visit with Peg's and my cousin, Rachel!

Ugh!

New Year's Eve started out well.  First, Maggie joined me in bed.  Then Mena joined us.  We ate breakfast and then I decided to exercise.  I was doing my arm exercises with 2 pound weights.  I didn't see Maggie walk behind me and I wacked her on the head.  You can see the bruise beside her eye.  It's just a shadow on the cheek/chin area.  I iced it and then called the doctor's office.  They were able to get us in right away and Dr. Bernhardson said she is going to be fine.  Maggie only cried for about 5 minutes and then she was running around playing with her sister when I was on the phone with the nurse.  The doctor was looking at Maggie's head about an hour after she got hurt.  Thankfully, she was ok with her temperature taken and the stethoscope.  She's cried over those before so I was glad she calmly let the nurse and doctor look her over.  I am so relieved that she's not seriously hurt!

Self-taken Pictures

Mena seems to think that when I hold out the camera that she needs to move closer to it!  Maggie does well.  The second picture is my screen on my phone.

Gingerbread House

After Christmas the girls spent two days with their dad.  Then they came back to me and we enjoyed two days at home with no plans!  Mena was very glad to just stay put after going to so many houses over Christmas.  On December 29th, we made a gingerbread house.  We took a picture of it finished and then we immediately took it apart to eat it.  Mena and Maggie saw no point in saving the house when we could eat the candy.  Neither was thrilled with the gingerbread, but they licked all the frosting off.  Maggie is very sensory oriented.  She was rubbing the frosting all over her hands.

Play Date with Holly

During Christmas break, Gene sent me these two pictures of the girls on a play date with Holly.  Holly's mom, Jessica, works with Gene.

Grandma and Grandpa Olson

The day after Christmas, we visited Grandma and Grandpa Olson in Fremont.  The second picture is our new Four Generation picture of us girls.  I am so glad that my grandma is still here to watch her great grandkids grow up and I am so glad that they are able to get to know my wonderful grandma.  Mena always tells me she wants to go see two grandmas.  We've gotten into the habit of spending the night at Grandma Frye's and then we visit Grandma Olson the next day before we drive home.

Hanging Out at Grandma's

Maggie was leaning on Mena on the couch, but she moved when I got the camera out.  The girls are close and even with cousins to play with they spent some time chilling out together.  Mena and Maggie are so cute!

Gifts from Grandparents and Cousins

At Dad's and Mom's houses, Mena was able to immediately open gifts.  At Grandma's we had to wait until after dinner.  Such torture for a 4 year old!
