Cousin Birthdays!

The cousins had fun playing together at Peg & Jon's house.  Peyton now has his learner's permit to drive and Jake is 10.  Beth also had a birthday, but who's counting?

Oh, Maggie!

I upgraded my phone and Maggie was using my old one while I set up my new one.
The same day, she let me pull out her loose tooth.  Then we put in in the medicine jar and she had to hold it right by where the tooth came out so you could "see" the tooth and the hole at the same time.  I don't think we can see the old tooth, but you can definitely see how far the new tooth had already come in!  This one was ready to come out!

Learning to Style this Haircut

Girls were shocked when I cut my hair short and I wasn't quite sure it was the best decision.  After a few months, I think I've figured out how to blow dry it into a nice style that looks good on me.  Letting it dry naturally is unpredictable!

Mena, the Anchor Woman for Kahoa Morning Announcements

Mena did a great job reading her script and looking up to make eye contact with the camera during her week of anchoring the morning announcements.

Science Fair

Both girls prepared projects for the Science Fair this year.  Maggie made a homemade candle which she then gave to Aunt Beth for her birthday.  Mena grew a variety of crystals and explained each kind.  Both girls worked hard, but only Mena was able to participate in the event at school.  Earlier in the day, the school nurse called me at work to come get Maggie because she'd spiked a fever.  Gene took Mena to the fair and I kept Maggie at home for the evening.  Maggie was quite bummed about the timing of her getting sick and even tried to tell me that she was well enough to go.  I said, "Sorry, no."

Groundhog Ball

St. Paul UMC had a Groundhog Ball on the Saturday before Groundhog Day.  Mena invited Pearl to come and Maggie invited Natilee.  The girls had fun eating snacks, dancing, and using the photo booth.  I was invited once to join them in the photo booth.  The great thing about them having friends come with us was that I was left to visit with my friends for the evening!
