Frye Christmas

Saturday, both of the girls tested negative for covid so we had the Frye Christmas.  We played bingo and got to choose a prize from what each of us had brought (candy, gift cards, hot cocoa mugs).  Then Mom had gift bags for each of us and we were able to trade for what gift cards we each wanted.  It was a really fun gathering!

New Gifts

I made sugar cookies with the new cookie cutters.  The girls played games on their chromebooks.  Maggie tried out her compression blanket but didn't care for how it limited her movement in bed.  I sewed it into a body sock and she found it much more calming that way.

Belated Christmas

I was supposed to get the girls on Christmas Eve but after exercising, showering, and getting completely ready for church, I felt exhausted and achy.  I thought maybe I should take my temperature.  It was 100.2 degrees.  Then I thought maybe this isn't a cold that I've been fighting.  I took a covid test and it came back strongly positive in 5 minutes even though the test said to give it 15 minutes.  The girls stayed with their dad so they wouldn't be exposed.  I broke my fever on Christmas day and it was still down the morning of the 26th, so the girls came home.  We unwrapped gifts, finished the nativity reading, and made Christmas dinner.  Originally, we should have eaten Christmas dinner at my mom's house with the family, but luckily I'd decided to have all the foods to make at my house as well.  We postponed the Frye gathering until the 30th which worked out because there was also 3 inches of snow on Christmas day and the roads weren't the best during the storm.

The girls received their blog books, new chromebooks, and some other items.  Philomena liked her Lorcana game and Maggie was thrilled to get more "mini brands" food for the doll house.  Philomena declared that her favorite gift was the bottle of root beer!  They each liked the last minute stocking stuffer that I picked up with a Mickey Mouse spatula and cookie cutter.

Merry Christmas!

December 22nd was my last day working before the holiday break.  I wasn't feeling the best so I kept my mask on the whole time I was visiting Dad at Journey House.  We gave Dad a calendar for 2024 with pictures of him and the grandkids.

Christmas Caroling

The youth group wanted to go Christmas Caroling so we took the kids to two different nursing homes to sing.  In between the nursing homes, we had everyone over to our house for snacks.  It was great hosting everyone and everyone enjoyed themselves.  The guinea pigs were a hit!

Scripture Reader

Philomena read scripture in church this morning.

Christmas Pageant

Mom and I took the girls to the Christmas Pageant at Westside Church in Omaha.  We were on the floor at the aisle.  The camels seemed huge that upclose!  The girls were able to pet a lamb and kid (baby goat) that were being carried by people in costume.  We'd been to this pre-covid but the girls didn't remember.  It was everything I remembered!

Concert Band

The first song for Concert Band was a percussion performance.  It was amazing to hear and watch.  High school band is really enjoyable to listen to.

Happy 73rd Birthday!

Dad/Grandpa turned 73 on a Sunday so we took Raising Cane's to Journey House for his lunch.  My godmother, Marla, and her husband Mark visited at the same time so it was great to see them as well.

Theater Club

Maggie is in an after school theater club.  She played the Executioner in Alice in Wonderland.  It was a cute 20 minute play that went well!
