Mena missed the first two days of the school year this year because she was sick. When she was well enough to go on Wednesday, we took her first day of school pictures. She wanted everyone to see her new backpack so she stood backwards for her first picture. Maggie didn't like to be left out so the last picture was the two of them. I told them to smile and Mena pointed to her smile and Maggie started shaking her head "no" and laughing.
The cat backpack has already been replaced by a bigger Dora backpack. The weekly folder that comes home from school was too big to fit in the cat backpack so we went shopping for a new backpack. Mena first picked out a purple backpack, then she saw a Hello Kitty backpack, and then she found Dora and there was no more debating. It was Dora that she wanted. Her two favorite characters right now are Dora and Barney. I really would have liked to have seen a Barney backpack just to see how long it would have taken her to make the decision between Dora and Barney. I'm not sure who has the top slot in her favorites list.
