Lincoln Children's Zoo August 25th

It was sprinkling the day we went to the zoo and the animals were fun to watch.  The first two pictures are the girls in the aviary.  They were very excited to get so close to the birds!  Maggie enjoyed the camels.  She liked looking through the glass window and then turned around to tell me all about them.  (I assume that's what she was telling me!)  Mena has gotten very brave now that she is almost 4, but Maggie was too scared to go near the bear.  The picture where Maggie is looking up was taken as we watched the gibbons.  There was one sitting right by the window and Maggie was a little nervous to get any closer to it.  The girls had fun with the cut outs as usual.

As we were walking on the sidewalk to the next animal, the two peacocks came across our path.  The girls started following them.  The peacock on the left turned his head around and honked at us.  I never realized how loud a peacock is!  If you notice Mena's left foot is up and I snapped the picture just before she ran away.  Maggie was leaning down to get a better look and jumped when it honked at us.

There's a new cut out that worked well for how tall the girls are right now.  Maggie was not thrilled that I made her sit on the big turtle, but Mena enjoyed having her picture taken again.  Before leaving we stopped in the gift shop to see the girls' cousin Tiffani.  Tiffani is Gene's brother's daughter.  She is college age and the girls don't see her much.  It's nice that she works at the zoo and we can say hi each time we go.
